Amber Glenn pulled off a rare feat on Friday night at the 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, securing her third consecutive U.S. title and becoming the first woman to accomplish that feat since Michelle Kwan won five straight from 1998 to 2003.
Glenn, Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito brought down the house on the opening night of the senior competition with back-to-back-to-back personal-best performances. All current or former U.S. champions, the trio followed each other at the end of the competition with clean skates and electric programs that pumped up the crowd at the packed Enterprise Center while earning record marks from the judges.
Glenn, skating last in the field of 18 women, posted a score of 83.05 in the short program — a new U.S. Championships women's short program record, surpassing Bradie Tennell's mark of 79.40 from 2021. Her total score of 233.55 is also a U.S. Championships record.
"I feel ecstatic. I think it reflected the training I put in prior to this competition. There was some extra pressure in terms of having to do it right here, right now; it was my first time at nationals in an Olympic year being age eligible for the Olympics. So I was glad to rely on my training to get through programs with no big problems." — Amber Glenn
Liu finished second with 229.14 points in her first U.S. Championships since returning from retirement. The reigning World champion wowed the crowd with a personal-best 81.11 in the short program to Laufey's "Promise," and delivered a breathtaking free skate to "MacArthur Park" by Donna Summer that left the judges and audience in awe.
Levito claimed bronze with 224.45 points, returning from a foot injury that cost her much of last season. The New Jersey native skated her Cinema Paradiso free skate with the artistry and depth that has made her one of the most talked-about skaters in the world, earning Level 4 on all three spins.
Gabriela Juarez-Rivas finished fifth in her first U.S. senior championship, earning high praise from judges for her Phantom of the Opera short program and posting a personal-best score. Starr Andrews placed seventh in what would be her final U.S. Championships as a singles skater.
"I think it reflects the training I put in prior to this competition. To do this three times in a row, I don't think I fully comprehend it. I'm very lucky." — Amber Glenn
Glenn, Liu and Levito now must wait to find out if they have been nominated to the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team. The team will be announced Sunday live at Enterprise Center during Making the Team: Presented by Xfinity.
